Blog Project - Week Seven

Personal Identifiable Information Ciara Smith DeVry University https://blogprojectforciarasmith.blogspot.com/ Abstract             This week in our blog posting we will be talking about something a little more personal to the general public. We all have personal or private information and we may even be supplying that to companies online. If we are freely giving it out or being required to give it out, what is happening to it? In the generation of pen and paper days we could trust that our information was being locked away in a filing system or even shredded after use, but the internet doesn’t work this way. So, here we are, to take a deeper dive into the world of personally identifiable information along with our favorite streaming company, Netflix. We are going to check out the privacy policy, see what we notice, and asses any recommendations we may or may not have. Let’s begin!  Personal Iden...

Blog Project - Week Six

Web Design Ciara Smith DeVry University Abstract             In today’s blog post, we will be discussing website design for both mobile and desktop versions for the popular streaming company, Netflix. Over the past few weeks, we have researched the expectations and requirements of the Interactive Advertising Bureau and have learned what it takes to make a website chic and consumer friendly. As consumers, we all know first impressions mean everything and with the common marketing “8-second rule” our attention can be lost very quickly. So, let’s get ready to dive in and see how Netflix’s stands up to the challenge. Web Design I first visited the website on my computer, and I am instantly greeted by a clean and nicely designed, black and red website. The first thing on the page is a call to action that allows me to try the service absolutely free for 30 days! They even have a nice calendar detail that shows when my ...

They have a membership composed of 650 leading media companies, brands, and technology firms that are responsible for selling, delivering, and optimizing digital ad campaigns. They are committed to professional development and improving the knowledge, skills, expertise, and diversity of the workforce across the digital industry. Due to their standards and policies they basically set the standard for digital advertisement compliance. So, let’s take a closer look and see how their guidelines are being represented for these three companies. The companies and websites I have selected are Ford, McDonald'...

Netflix and SEO Ciara Smith DeVry University Abstract             Today’s blog post we are going back to discussing our original company of choice, Netflix. We will be talking about our favorite streaming service once again and will go into analyzing and discussing the search engine rankings and where Netflix falls on this scale. How good is their social media presence? What could they do to improve? These are all things that could potentially grow their business and I have a few ideas that they could possibly consider.  Netflix and SEO We all know Netflix as a popular streaming service that we can view on most popular internet compatible device. This can include smart TVs, game systems, cell phones, tablets or laptops for example. Due to it being an internet-based business one might assume their search engine optimization (SEO) would be at the top of the charts! Consumers are already using the i...

Kansas State Football Ciara Smith DeVry University Abstract             Today’s blog post we are going to discuss one of my favorite college football teams, K-State University. I have been on their email list for a few season’s now and they send out alerts for season tickets, player and coach statistics, updates on the next few upcoming games, and links to video highlights. I enjoy reading their emails due to the information being easily and nicely displayed. In this blog post, we will discuss if K-State has good direct marketing and design. We will take a look and see if they are compliant with the current CAN-SPAM act. We will also discuss if K-State is using the internet to their full advantage to achieve direct marketing strategic goals. Now, let’s begin!   Kansas State Football Lately, with football season now in full force, I have seen a great influx of email’s, alerts, and marketing for all my team...

Running head: BOEING Boeing Ciara Smith DeVry University https://blogprojectforciarasmith.blogspot.com/ Boeing             For the assignment this week the goal was to identify a business model for one of the selected major companies of our choice. I am going to switch things up a bit and select a different business. For this week I have decided to do a little research on company called Boeing. This is a well-known company in my town due to us (Wichita, Ks) being the air capital of the world and I have personally known many people to be employed by Boeing. For those of you who may not be so familiar, Boeing is the world’s largest aerospace company and is the leading manufacturer of commercial jet lines, defense, space, and security systems, and they are also a service provider for aftermarket support.  Figure 1 : Boeing Logo Figure 2: This is an image of the Boeing logo that is ...

Blog Project - Week One

For my assignment this week I selected a company called Netflix to get my daily updates on. This is a very popular steaming service company that is being used all over the world. The reason for it becoming so popular is due to its large library of variety and material. If you have ever used the service, you would definitely understand. The content feels literally, endless! One of the great things about Netflix is how it brings value to its clients. First, their price point starts at only $8.99 per month. This will get you access to a variety of award-winning TV shows, movies, anime, documentaries, and more on thousands of compatible devices. You can watch as much as you want, whenever you want, and without ANY commercials! How it works is you sign on to their website or mobile app through a supported device through the internet. As long as you are online, you are good to go! But let's say you know you are not going to have access to the internet at some point. Netflix now al...
