For the assignment this
week the goal was to identify a business model for one of the selected major
companies of our choice. I am going to switch things up a bit and select a
different business. For this week I have decided to do a little research on
company called Boeing. This is a well-known company in my town due to us (Wichita,
Ks) being the air capital of the world and I have personally known many people
to be employed by Boeing. For those of you who may not be so familiar, Boeing
is the world’s largest aerospace company and is the leading manufacturer of
commercial jet lines, defense, space, and security systems, and they are also a
service provider for aftermarket support.

Boeing is a large cooperation and has customers in over
150 countries. They are capable of providing tailored aircraft services and
continue to expand their product line and services to meet the changing
customer needs. According to their website, they have a broad range of
capabilities to be able to create new and more efficient members for its
commercial airplane family and have innovative financing and service options
for their customers.
The current business model presented does seem to be the
best route of action for an aerospace company. Allowing models to be able to be
customized and not a "one size fits all" is the best plan of
action.
An idea to consider adding to future business models is
to be mindful of the future and the future of travel and aerospace. Making sure
the budget is adequate for advancements in technology for aircraft is a good
thing to consider. Allowing customers to be educated and "in the
know" about what the technologies are and what they can do. Some of the
alerts I have been receiving indicate that Boeing has potential to make some
major decisions in designing space craft that will be a part of a space launch
program. Since there have always been thoughts and ideas of sending more and
more people into space, Boeing could be a top contender in making that
possible. This can relate to the current business model in place considering
they already offer custom aircraft. This could eventually expand the business
model to provide custom space craft someday.
